Who We Work With

Government

The Government of India has played and continues to play a critical role in the WASH sector. It has also been welcoming and encouraging of the private players in the sector. Nirgandh has worked closely with state administration in making safe sanitation a reality.

Ensuring Access to Safe Sanitation

As a part of Swach Bharat Mission (SBM), Nirgandh has worked closely with the Zila Parishad of Nuh (Haryana) to provide community toilets in 42 villages. These facilities are also designed for specially abled users. A variety of materials like FRP, Cement Boards and Brick and  Mortar have been used for these installations.

Creating Awareness About
the Anaerobic  Inoculum

In order to increase awareness about the need and benefits of safe sanitation, dangers and downside of open defecation and the advantages of the anaerobic technology, the team at Nirgandh worked closely with the SHG groups and the NRLM centre. Individual householdtoilets have been placed at the premises to help choose case the technology and how fecal sludge management can be done on site and the chain can be broken.  This installation is suited for a family of 7 – 10.

Using the Technology in the Existing Facilities

In order to work on ODF++ and make sanitation sustainable, Nirgandh is working on a pilot project with India Institute of Human Settlement (IIHS) and the Tamilnadu government to retrofit the existing facilities with bio-digesters in Trichy. The biggest advantage of this technology is its success in flood prone areas.

Ensuring that Singar Remains ODF

In the Singar cluster, public toilets are being installed to ensure that people in the district have access to a clean and safe toilet at any given point of time. The objective is to not only ensure that each household has a toilet but even the floating population has access to a clean toilet at any given point of time.

Project in Palwal

15 community toilets have been set up by the district administration in Prithila to ensure that the area remains ODF and the behaviour to defecate in the open continues to be discouraged.

Facility for the Frontline Warriors

In the trying and challenging times of the pandemic, Nirgandh in collaboration with BMC, UNICEF and LIXIL designed mobile installations for the COVID warriors in Mumbai. The objective of the project was to provide access to safe sanitation to the people who were in the fore front, fighting the battle against the virus.

NGOs and Foundations

‘Not for Profit Organizations’ and Corporates with their CSR funds drive sanitation and hygiene as an agenda. Nirgandh works closely with these foundations and NGOs to help achieve this goal of hygiene and safety.

Impacting 350+ students

Nirgandh in collaboration with Aasra  has installed its systems at 2 different schools in Dehradun district. These schools are for under privileged children and one of them is a day boarding. The children have also used the output water for horticulture and grown some plants and vines of grapes.

From Old to New

Nirgandh in collaboration with Jatan Construction – as part of their CSR initiative has installed 3 toilets for students in this 110 year old school. Currently there are 150 students in the school.

Access to New Technology

Sarthak Prayas an NGO in Gurugram Haryana has funded the installation of toilets at two schools. There are existing sanitation facilities in both schools. However when the facilities had to be increased because the number of students was increasing, the decision  makers chose to use the new and sustainable technology for safe sanitation.

Impacting 350+ students

Safe Sanitation for Children

Nirgandh has installed bio-digester toilets at two schools. A total of 500+ students between these two schools would have access to safe sanitation. There are existing sanitation facilities in both schools. However when the facilities had to be increased because the number of students was increasing, the decision makers chose to use the new and sustainable technology for safe sanitation.

Turning A New Leaf

Some of the older educational institutions do not have the basic sanitation facility or the existing facility is dilapidated. This 110 year old school in Ajmer has moved to the new technology to ensure that there is sustainable and safe sanitation.

Getting The Facility For All

Nirgandh has installed this toilet complex at the Government Senior Secondary School in Ghasera, Haryana. This sanitation complex ensures that the students and people using the library have access to a sanitation facility.

Individual Households

This is the simplest and the smallest of our installations for the use of an individual or a nuclear family. The prime aim is to provide affordable, sustainable sanitation at the basic level. The best part about these units is that they can be constructed/installed in any location and a variety of material is used which is pocket friendly, safe and sustainable. Materials range from FRP, Flyash, Strawboards, Reinforced Plastic to Bamboo and even Tented Toilets.

‘DIY Toilets’

The team at Nirgandh believes in continued innovation and as a part of this credo we have designed a toilet that can be packed and assembled ‘Ikea style’. The unit is being developed as a sustainable sanitation solution for the masses. The installation comes with a digester.
